Connect 4

Role: Co-founder, program coordinator
With: Jen Roos, Caitlin Dover

Connect 4 is a design initiative that focuses on a form of mentorship functions as a networking opportunity for graphic design students of color while building meaningful connections with their mentors. Mentors and mentees committed to meeting at least once a week in addition to participating in design and social justice oriented activities organized by the coordiators.

The program, launched with a grant from the New York branch of AIGA, ran in the summer of 2019 and concluded in December 2019. Designers from Pentagram New York, Deutsche, Champions Design and Omnivore Design mentored four design students of color throughout the summer.

The program concluded its second iteration in December of 2020, in an expanded capacity of 8 students and mentees in partnership with Pentagram New York.

The mentorship program has contributed to students’ professional development, and has directly led to job and internship opportunities for its students.
